The beginning of 2012 continues as 2011 ended - busy, busy times. Lots of great work being done, more of which will be seen later, but suffice to say, it’s an interesting mix and we can’t wait to share it. Follow us @eq_design to be first to see what we have been up to.
The creative team are currently working on a range on new marketing materials for Rigmar - An Aberdeen based integrated services and solutions for the oil & gas industry. With new products and services in development, Rigmar approached EQ Design with the task of creating a suite of marketing tools that communicate the market leading innovations they are renowned for.
Our digital team have been busy the past 6 months developing EQ Design’s approach to web design’s most talked about development - responsive design - the ability to give a website the power to adapt to the media platform it’s viewed on, whether it be a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop. We strive for content first through device independence.
On February 22nd, our digital team launched survivex.com which became Aberdeen’s first ‘truly’ responsive website. Survivex are Aberdeen’s newest and most exciting offshore training specialist and our whole creative team has been involved in developing a range of marketing materials culminating in their new, content driven, richly designed online experience.
Over the past year, we have been creating a series of posters that ‘celebrate’ the personality and downright weirdness/geekiness/grumpiness/happiness of the studio by illustrating, in the best typographic tradition, our ‘Overheard at EQ’ twitter hashtag @oheq. And as it’s approaching Christmas we have created 2 calendars - a wall and a desktop - celebrating this project that will be given to clients, suppliers and friends alike.
There will be some spare I’m sure, so if you want one to gaze ‘under the bonnet’ at what we say behind closed doors, email mark@eqdesign.co.uk with the funniest ‘overheard’ thing you have been witness to this year. Either that or just say you want one!

After a breathless but brilliant Offshore Europe, the studio is finally back to normal. Having worked with our clients on a variety of OE related projects - stands, graphics, presentation, advertising etc. it’s been good to look back and find out from them the kind of quality response they have had since the show ended. The early results are very promising, with ‘their best ever show’ being a common response. In fact, there has been talk of larger stands and increased presence already.
Roll-on 2013…
Next time you are in the area, pay a visit to Herd’s Family Butcher in Insch. As well as taking advantage of their incredible local meat and homemade pies, look around and see how the new brand ID, created by EQ, has been applied and rolled out. Working alongside www.muirinteriors.co.uk our creative team developed the signage, graphics, panels and architectural cues that help give the shop it’s signature character and contemporary feel.
Just back from the printers, our brochure for new Barratt Homes development - Castlewell. Foil blocked with two spot colour on KeayKolour stock, the fine finish and high-end spec sits perfectly with this latest Ellon residential build that is itself a market leading project - www.barratthomes.co.uk
We have a part-time vacancy for a part-time marketing assistant interested in online marketing and communication. The role involves keeping some of our clients websites and social media platforms fresh and up-to-date, with a view to helping the team create specific and relevant content for a varied range of sectors. Ideal for a student who is looking for a foot into the industry, as the role would amount to about 10 hours a week.

Welcome to our new web developer - Ryan Roberts. Ryan comes with a fantastic pedigree and joins EQ as we continue to invest in our digital offering and grow our cross-discipline creative team. It also means we can have an EQ night out, so we can properly welcome him to the family and he can really see what he’s let himself in for.
Well done to our creative team for getting the Carbon Financial Partners corporate identity nominated for a Scottish Creative Award - www.scottishcreativeawards.com/nominations - Carbon was a real team effort which saw us developing a new company name, brand identity, a full suite of communication & marketing tools and website so it’s pleasing to get some recognition. Wish us luck for 7th October, when the winner is announced!
